What did that job actually cost you?
A job is one piece of work — "Johnson bathroom remodel". Every receipt can be assigned to one, and the job total is built from the receipts themselves.
Costs derived, never stored
A job total is computed from its receipts every time you look at it. Correct a total or move a receipt to a different job and the numbers follow immediately — there is no stale figure left behind anywhere.
A budget you set, tracked against
Give a job a cost ceiling and the app tracks spent, remaining, percentage used and whether it has gone over. One budget number per job — this is a cost ceiling, not a budget per category.

The schedule is the status
A job has a start and an end date, and it is active until the end date passes. There is no status field to forget to update. Archiving is a separate decision: archived jobs stay readable and stay in reports, they simply drop out of pickers.
Deleting a job never destroys history
Delete a job and its receipts survive — they simply become unassigned. Expense history is not something the app will throw away on your behalf.
Jobs are flat, and that shapes how they are used
There are no phases, sub-jobs or cost codes. A job is a single unit with a single budget. Because there is no limit on how many jobs an account can have, the working pattern for a multi-phase build is one job per phase — Foundation, Framing, MEP, Finishes — all pointed at the same client, with the client expense report rolling them into one document.

Can I split one receipt across two jobs?
No. A receipt goes to one job whole. Most people scan per job at the counter, or put a shared run against the job that took most of it.
Is there a limit on jobs?
No. There is no cap on how many jobs an account can have, on any plan.
Can it tell me if a job is profitable?
No. The app records expenses only — it has no revenue, contract value or invoicing in it, so it cannot compute profit or margin. It tells you what a job has cost against the budget you set.
