A naive receipt app treats every spelling as a different supplier, which makes per-supplier totals meaningless. This one keeps a single durable record and folds the variants into it.
One record, every spelling
Each supplier is one record per account, and every spelling that resolves to it is recorded against it. High-confidence variants are folded together automatically; borderline pairs are surfaced as a question — "are these the same supplier?" — rather than guessed at.
You outrank the algorithm
Once you have renamed, merged or confirmed a supplier, the matcher stops second-guessing it. Answering "different suppliers" is permanent — the app does not ask again. The display name is yours to edit, and renaming it never re-partitions historical reports.

What that unlocks
Once suppliers are real records, supplier spend becomes a real number: totals, receipt count, average receipt, largest single purchase, first and last purchase, month-by-month trend, and — the useful part on a build — what you spent at that supplier broken out by job, with client names attached.

What if it merges two suppliers that are actually different?
Tell it they are different and the dismissal is permanent. Merges are never destructive either — nothing is deleted, receipts are simply re-pointed.
Can I rename a supplier?
Yes. The display name is user-editable and renaming it never re-partitions historical reports. The name as printed on the receipt stays on the record as the audit trail.
Can I un-merge or split a supplier?
Not yet — that is planned for a later release. Merge suggestions are surfaced before anything borderline is combined.
